JOB OVERVIEW:
Oversees the daily operations and long-term success of the Children's Justice Center. The Director coordinates and facilitates multidisciplinary collaboration in the investigation, treatment, and prevention of child abuse. This position involves managerial, advocacy, community relations, and administrative responsibilities, all aimed at providing a child-centered, trauma-informed environment for children and families involved in abuse investigations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Children’s Justice Center.
Develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Ensure the Center provides a safe, child-friendly atmosphere for all child victims and their families.
Maintain detailed records and ensure confidentiality of client information.
Supervise CJC staff, including forensic interviewers, victim advocates, administrative personnel, and volunteers.
Serve as a leader in the development and execution of the Center’s strategic vision, mission, and goals.
Coordinate and facilitate communication and collaboration among the multidisciplinary team (MDT), including law enforcement, child protection services, medical professionals, prosecutors, therapists, and other stakeholders.
Organize and lead regular case review meetings to ensure effective decision-making and comprehensive service provision for each case.
Promote teamwork among MDT members to minimize trauma to children and ensure a timely response to allegations of abuse.
Oversee the provision of forensic interviews and ensure they are conducted in a manner that reduces additional trauma to children.
Ensure families and child victims have access to support services, including counseling, advocacy, medical examinations, and legal assistance.
Develop, maintain, and monitor resources that address the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of child victims.
Serve as a public face of the Children’s Justice Center, developing and maintaining relationships with community leaders, governmental entities, and other service providers.
Advocate for policies and resources that enhance child protection and support for victims of abuse.
Organize public education and outreach efforts to raise awareness about child abuse and the role of the Center.
Manage the Center’s budget, ensuring responsible stewardship of funds.
Identify and pursue grant opportunities and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Oversee fund-raising efforts and engage with donors, sponsors, and community partners to secure financial support.
Prepare financial and programmatic reports for funders, government entities, and stakeholders.
Provide or arrange for training for staff, MDT members, and volunteers on best practices for child abuse prevention, investigation, and trauma-informed care.
Stay current on emerging trends, legal updates, and best practices related to child abuse investigations and trauma-informed care.
Ensure the professional development and continuing education of all staff members.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff, oversees the daily work flow of the department, provides constructive and timely performance evaluations to the department, handles discipline of employees in accordance with county policy, creates and manages team schedules, coaches and engages employees, responsible for the operating budget.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education: Graduation from college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Social Work or a related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a child advocacy, social services, law enforcement, or related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and managing child abuse investigations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
Knowledge: Strong understanding of child development, trauma, child abuse investigations, child advocacy, and social services.
Skills: Ability to manage sensitive, emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy. Public speaking and public relations, conflict management and intervention, and word processing and computer programs
Abilities: Manage and coordinate professionals and others who will contribute to the center, communicate effectively orally and in writing, write and submit grant proposals, appropriately deal with stress caused by the need to respond in a crisis, meet deadlines with frequent interruptions, maintain confidentiality, perform work in an office environment, organize responsibilities, work unsupervised and accept responsibility for actions, learn and recommend new and improved procedures, and maintain cooperative working relationships with contacts in the course of work activities.
YOUR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., LCSW, LPC) are highly desirable.
Must possess a valid Utah Driver’s License and have a good driving record and successfully pass a background check and be bondable, if required.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to starting the position.
